ICM Partner and Clients Honored by Variety’s 2020 New York Power Women Impact List

ICM Partners is proud to congratulate our clients Chloe Fineman, Libby Leist, and Laura Linney as well as our colleague Bonnie Bernstein for their recognition on Variety’s 2020 New York Power Women Impact List.

The publication’s annual list honors New York-based women who have had a significant effect on the entertainment industry over the previous year. The members from the ICM Partners’ family included on the list of impressive and powerful women are undoubtedly well-deserved recognitions.

Emmy-nominated actress Laura Linney captures audiences with her moving performances, from her recent role on Broadway in My name Is Lucy Barton to her many roles behind the camera including award winning Netflix’s Ozark. “…You go where the work is,” Linney says. “And you go where the good people are, and you go where the good material is. When those things present themselves — whether it’s film, television, or theater — you say yes to the opportunity to work on good things with good people.”

Leist is the first woman to run the 7-9 a.m. hours on NBC’s Today since 1952. As the executive producer on one of the nation’s highest-rated daily news programs, Leist has done an outstanding job keeping the nationally televised show running despite the unprecedented stay-at-home lockdowns issued under the pandemic. “The biggest lesson of this is to stay flexible and patient: As producers, we’ve had to sur- render to the reality that we can’t produce the way we used to. We’re getting creative about how to do interviews, features, live surprises and all the things that make Today great.”

It is this level of ingenuity and devotion that defines the impact these women have on entertainment. Fineman delivers it with her weekly genius comedic performances on NBC’s Saturday Night Live, recently finishing her first season and securing her ‘Up Next’ spot on the list. Fineman is a multifaceted talented, known especially for her impressions in her viral sketches including her Steering Wheel Acting at the Weekend Update Desk Desk and her hilarious ‘Masterclass Quarantine Series’.

Bernstein, a longtime ICM partner, has a roster of talent including Emmy nominees and winners such as Bradley Whitford, Edie Falco, Ty Burrell, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Giancarlo Esposito, Anthony Carrigan, Idina Menzel, and Holly Hunter.

“I decided to make 2020 the year of yes,” Bernstein told Variety. “Yes to fully absorbing new experiences, yes to embracing new challenges, yes to pushing the boundaries, and yes to finding any excuse to be with my girlfriends who constantly inspire and support me.”

Variety typically hosts a luncheon to gather and honor all of the women included on their Power list, however, due to the pandemic, the in-person event was modified to be a virtual event. Ahead of the event, the media outlet asked the women to share some of their personal impacts by COVID-19, including their heroes, lessons learned, and their future impressions.

“It feels impossible to pick only one hero, but as all my friends know, I live for Gov. [Andrew] Cuomo’s daily press conferences,” Bernstein added. “We have never needed clear leadership more and Gov. Cuomo is a living embodiment and reminder of what that looks like. His clear-eyed presentation of facts, unabashed deference to science, willingness to deftly speak truth to power, all laced with his personal musings and compassion, bring much needed comfort to me every day.”

ICM Partners is proud to work with such impactful women!
