ICM Partners Acquires Minority Stake in Swedish Lit Agency Albatros
In a move that further expands our global footprint, ICM Partners has purchased a significant minority stake in the Swedish literary agency, Albatros.
Based in Stockholm, Albatros is a boutique agency exclusively representing writers and directors, as well as managing IP throughout Scandinavia. The agency’s dynamic founders and managing partners, Martina Österling and Elin Sandström Lundh, released the following statement in support of our new partnership:
“We started Albatros Agency with a vision of boosting talent, working hands on with their projects, creating business opportunities and building long term partnerships. We are very proud of what we have established at Albatros so far, but even more excited about this next chapter, and to partner with ICM is a true defining moment for us.”
As part of our long term investment in the Swedish agency, ICM Partner Pete Stone will relocate to Stockholm to lend his considerable expertise and help grow the agency.
“As the creative marketplace rapidly globalizes, this venture represents an important step forward in our goal of representing and amplifying the world’s best voices,” Stone said in an interview with Variety about the acquisition. “Albatros has exceptional clients and by pairing our industry-leading resources with Albatros’ local expertise we will be able to authentically bring these creators and their stories to the world stage.”
Throughout the past year, optimizing the opportunities provided by the world stage – for our clients, our business, and for content consumers – has motivated our agency to invest deeper into local markets beyond the U.S. An early example was our investment in the London-based music agency Primary Talent International, which was finalized earlier this year.
“We try to look at the whole world as an opportunity for our clients,” ICM Partners’ CEO Chris Silbermann said. “There’s huge opportunities for our clients outside the U.S.”
