ICM Partners’ Clients Sweep up Emmy Awards for Schitt’s Creek, Watchmen, Ru-Paul’s Drag Race and More
It was a fantastic week of Emmy wins for ICM Partners – congratulations to all of our clients who won at the 2020 Emmys! From the #SchittsSweep record-breaking awards for Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara’s Schitt’s Creek, Regina King’s well deserved Emmy for Watchmen, and Jasmine Cephas Jones very first nomination and win, there is much to celebrate.
The 72nd Annual Emmy Awards were first nicknamed the Pand-Emmys for its unprecedented virtual telecast with dozens of live feeds set up around the world, but by evening’s end, the Television Academy’s Award show was re-nicknamed #SchittsSweep for the incredible winning streak experienced by Schitt’s Creek.
The Pop TV sitcom broke a number of records as it received the award in every category it was nominated for, with a total of 15 wins. Eugene Levy won Outstanding Comedy Series, Catherine O’Hara won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, Eugene Levy won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, and Andrew Cividino won Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series. Schitt’s Creek broke the record last night for most Emmy wins in a single season for a comedy, and is now the first basic cable show to have ever won the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series.
Regina King took home an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie for her work on Watchmen.
Jasmine Cephas Jones won the Outstanding Actress in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series Emmy for her work in Quibi’s #FreeRayshawn. This is Jasmine’s first Emmy nomination and win – we’re looking forward to her bright future!
Michelle Visage and Jacqueline Wilson (in memoriam) won Outstanding Competition Program for their work on RuPaul’s Drag Race.
Vince Gilligan won Outstanding Short Form Comedy or Drama Series for his work on Better Call Saul and Don Roy King won the Emmy for Outstanding Directing For Variety Series for his work on Saturday Night Live – marking Don’s fourth straight Emmy win!
Javier Grillo-Marxuach won the Outstanding Children’s Program for his work on Jim Henson’s The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance and Dan Cogan took home the Emmy for Outstanding Documentary Or Nonfiction Special Emmy for his work on The Apollo.
Keith Ian Raywood won the Outstanding Production Design For A Variety, Reality Or Competition Series Emmy for his work on Saturday Night Live, Ryan Watson won the Outstanding Stunt Coordination for a Drama, Limited Series or Movie Emmy last night for his work on The Mandalorian, and Martin Childs won the Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Period or Fantasy Series (One Hour or more) Emmy for his work on The Crown.
