ICM Partners Says Goodbye to The Ellen Show

ICM Partners client Ellen Degeneres’ eponymous show comes to a close. The final episode, airing May 26, 2022, marks nearly 20 years of unforgettable daytime television. Since its inception in September 2003, the talk show has gone on to win 64 Daytime Emmy Awards during its run. Widely praised for its timely delivery of joy and amusement, unfiltered dancing, and games with even better giveaways, The Ellen show will be remembered as an iconic American television program with an exceptional, one-of-a-kind host.

THR was in the audience for one of Ellen’s last episodes and shared all the need to know details. The final episodes were filmed nearly a month ago on the Warner Bros. studio lot in Burbank. Amid the tear-filled moments and anticipatory goodbyes, Ellen’s energy was tangible as she played tag with producers and sang along to music pushed through studio speakers.

“I’m a creative person, and when you’re a creative person you constantly need to be challenged, which is why I decided to host the Oscars or why I decided to go back to stand up when I didn’t think I would,” Ellen shares with The Hollywood Reporter. “I just needed something to challenge me. And as great as this show is, and as fun as it is, it’s just not a challenge anymore. I need something new to challenge me.”

The show has always been known to be full of surprises for its guests, viewers, and audience members, so there is no question of whether the final season has lived up to that standard. Dozens of the show’s guests from over the years were scheduled to make appearances leading up to the finale to pay tribute to Ellen and share their favorite memories from the show. Her third-to-last taping featured special guests Mila Kunis and Oprah Winfrey, one of the few people, let alone women, who would be able to understand all that Ellen is feeling. The two hosts discussed Ellen’s final days, reminding Oprah of the end of her own talk show in 2011. Ellen shared that through it all she remains present and wants to feel everything as it comes.

“I promise you that we’re going to have a fantastic final season,” Ellen said in May. “It will be a season where I truly get to say, ‘Thank you. Thank you all.’ Every day will be a celebration.”

A special congratulations and huge thank you to Ellen and her entire team for joking, dancing, and making us laugh, without ever skipping a beat, for the past 19 years. We will see you in your next chapter.
