Rachel Fleit’s award-winning documentary “Introducing, Selma Blair” now on Discovery+

It’s not often that a documentary leaves the viewer both stunned and inspired. “Introducing, Selma Blair” does that and more. Directed by ICM Partners’ client Rachel Fleit, the film takes an unflinching look at Selma Blair’s journey after being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2018. Fleit paints an intimate, powerful, and refreshingly raw picture of the actress’s reconciliation with the unexpected turn her life takes. Exploring complex issues of beauty standards to the fear and stigma surrounding disability, Fleit details one woman’s resilient journey in a way that is rarely seen on television.

Unsurprisingly, the endearingly private documentary has gained a great deal of attention. After premiering at SXSW, it went on to win the Special Jury Prize for Exceptional Intimacy in Storytelling. The film also earned a nomination for Best Documentary Feature by the Critics Choice Awards, while Fleit herself was nominated for Best First Documentary Feature. In a review of the film, The New York Times comments, “The greatest asset of the film is its ability to simulate the intimacy of disclosure, and Blair’s comfort with the camera — her actress-y will to entertain — makes her a uniquely endearing subject. The forthrightness that has become the signature of her public persona is on full display; she treats the camera as if it were a trusted friend.”

You don’t want to miss “Introducing, Selma Blair,” which can now be streamed on Discovery+.
