Robert Gibbs Promoted to Head of Contemporary Music at ICM Partners

We are pleased to congratulate Robert Gibbs on his historic promotion to the Head of Contemporary Music at ICM Partners, making him the first African American department head of a major agency’s music department.

Since joining the agency in 2007, Gibbs has been an integral member of the music department, as well as an exemplary member of the agency’s culture as a whole. He was made a Partner in 2016, and has received various industry-wide honors over the years, including being named to the Billboard Power 100 list for the past two years and was recently named to Live Nation’s 2020 Pollstar Impact 50 list.

“Robert is a fabulous agent, individual, and an impactful leader. I am very proud of him and all that he has accomplished in his fourteen years at ICM,” said Chris Silbermann, ICM Partners’ CEO. “We began discussing this well-deserved promotion last October and but for the pandemic, this would have happened sooner. He has earned this promotion with sustained levels of excellence in all aspects of the job and makes our organization stronger. I am thrilled for him and us.”

Rob Prinz, head of Worldwide Concerts at ICM Partners, added to the praise of Gibbs’ contributions to the agency. “Robert has built a tremendous business the right way and has been a great teammate and mentor for younger agents as well as a key producer in our department for many years. This promotion formalizes a leadership role that Robert has already undertaken within the Concerts Department for a long time now.”

Gibbs’ client roster includes some of the biggest names in contemporary music, including J.Cole, PARTYNEXTDOOR, JID, EARTHGANG, Ari Lennox, Roy Wood$, and many more.

In addition to his client representation work, Gibbs has played an influential role in the agency’s ever-expanding philanthropic efforts. This includes securing our financial commitment to A Place Called Home, a non-profit that provides children and teens in South Central Los Angeles with arts, education, counseling and mentorship programs in a safe and loving environment. As a board member of the ICM Foundation, Gibbs maintains a critical voice in helping the agency manage our support given to charities and organizations in the cities in which ICM operates.

Gibbs is also on the board of Diversify/ICM, an internal initiative dedicated to helping identify, hire, train, and mentor inclusive candidates at ICM as well as champion educational programs to foster a greater understanding between diverse people and cultures.

“ICM has built the best culture of any major agency and I am proud to take a leadership role within this organization,” Gibbs stated. “We are the last and only Major Agency solely dedicated to the representation business and it shows in the manner in which we work for artists to achieve their dreams. We have been building and fortifying the department even during the pandemic and our Contemporary Music team is one I am proud to now lead.”
