Shonda Rhimes, Vince Gilligan, Bill Lawrence, and Jenny Lumet Included on THR’s 2020 list of Hollywood’s 50 Most Powerful Television Showrunners
ICM Partners is pleased to congratulate our clients recognized on The Hollywood Reporter’s 2020 list of Hollywood’s 50 Most Powerful Television Showrunners. Selections were pulled from “all writer- producers with scripted series that aired original episodes between September 2019 and September 2020,” the publication wrote. “They are not apples to apples, rather judged relative to slates, deal size, ratings, value to platform and studio, cultural impact and awards.”
Featured on the cover of the October 21st issue of THR, Shonda Rhimes spoke with the magazine about the industry-changing megadeal she signed with Netflix after departing her longtime home at ABC. 17 seasons of producing the Golden-Globe and Emmy Award winning Grey’s Anatomy, in addition to other hit series such as Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder have cemented Rhimes as one of the most influential names in television history.
Vince Gilligan, who has been included on THR’s annual list over five times, was recognized this year for his work on the fifth season of his Emmy-award winning series Better Call Saul (AMC). The sixth and final season of the Breaking Bad prequel is scheduled to air in 2021.
Television veteran Bill Lawrence (Scrubs, Spin City) had a successful first season with Ted Lasso on Apple TV+. The UK-set sports comedy debuted to rave reviews and was renewed for a sophomore season five days after its premiere.
Jenny Lumet’s honorary inclusion celebrates her writing and producing contributions to CBS’ Star Trek franchises. Along with writing partner Alex Kurtzman, Lumet is currently working on three dramas and two animated shows within the Star Trek universe. She will soon make her solo showrunning debut on CBS All Access’ The Man Who Fell to Earth.
