Apple Sets “Cha Cha Real Smooth” for 2022 SXSW Festival
We are delighted to announce that ICM Partners repped film “Cha Cha Real Smooth,” directed by our client Cooper Raiff has been set as one of five titles that will be sent to SXSW by Apple. The streamer acquired Cooper’s Sundance Audience Award-winning follow-up for $15 million, closing the biggest deal of the virtual 2022 Sundance Film Festival. His debut film “Shithouse” took home the Grand Jury Prize for narrative feature in 2020 at the virtual film festival held by SXSW. Two years and one pandemic later, he will finally get his moment to shine in Austin with his most recent film.
Raiff writes, directs, and stars as Andrew, a man working as a bar mitzvah party host who strikes up a unique friendship with a young woman and her teenage daughter. In an interview with Deadline, VP-Director of Film at SXSW, Janet Pierson, says, “Not only did we fall in love with ‘Cha Cha Real Smooth’ at Sundance, we jumped at the chance to finally host SXSW 2020 Grand Prize Award-winning filmmaker Cooper Raiff for his first in-person festival premiere ever with this new film.”
ICM Partners couldn’t be happier for Cooper and the trajectory of “Cha Cha Real Smooth.”
